Kamran Michael

Kamran Michael is currently Minister for Statistics. Previously has been assigned the responsibility of Minister for Human Rights during 2013 to 2017. A member of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Michael held the cabinet portfolio of Minister for Ports and Shipping from 2013 to 2016. Michael has been an elected member of the Senate of Pakistan on minorities’ seat since 2012and has been entrusted the responsibilities of Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs, Human Rights, Women development, Social Welfare and Finance in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab.

Kamran Michael started his political career in 2001 after getting elected as Councilor. Later he was elected as Member of Lahore District Council. He was elected as member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab for the first time in general election, 2002 on one of the eight seats reserved for minorities. He was re-elected as the member of the Punjab Assembly for a second term in general election, 2008. He was appointed as provincial minister for human rights, provincial minister for Minority Affairs, provincial minister for Social Welfare and provincial minister for Women development in the Punjab cabinet. In 2010, he was appointed as the provincial minister for Finance, Michael was elected member of the Senate of Pakistan in 2012 for the first time on one of the ten seats reserved for minorities. Upon PML-N victory in the general election, 2013, Michael was made the Minister for Ports and Shipping in June 2013 where he served until May 2016. In 2016, he was appointed as Minister for Human Rights till the present position.
