Mr. Muhammad Ayub Sheikh, currently serving as Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics, is one of Pakistan’s leading civil servants with a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years. He is a member of the Pakistan Administrative Services. Previous key administrative, management and judicial positions held by Mr Sheikh include: Secretary, Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan; Secretary, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination; Chairman of the Employees Old Age Benefit Institution; Member (Judicial) Board of Revenue Sindh; and Secretary (Implementation) Services and General Administration Department, Government of Sindh. He has also served as Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sindh and (2006–2008) and as a member of the Sindh Service Tribunal. Between 2003 and 2004, Mr Sheikh held the post of Special Secretary, Local Government Department, Government of Sindh, where he was responsible for coordinating all tiers of local government across the province. Other previously held posts include: Secretary, Board of Revenue Government of Sindh; Commissioner, Sukkur Division; Deputy Commissioner, Jacobabad; and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Larkana-Kambar. Mr Sheikh is a law graduate and has an MBA in Finance and Accounting. He has also completed several advanced leadership programmes in public policy and management including the Excellence in Leadership Course at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (USA).
